Laura Giocomo goes after the things she wants with an intensity and creativity that is (what's the polite term?) unique.

"I was obsessed with having braces as a kid 'but I never ended up getting them," she says. "I wanted them so badly that I ended up making them out of paper clips and green apple Bubble Yum, which I stuck to the roof of my mouth like a retainer."

She also was obsessed with the Ribbon Dancer, a classic 1980s toy that allowed youngsters to dip their toes into the exciting world of rhythmic gymnastics.

"Many days, I could be found in my front yard, choreographing elaborate dances with my Ribbon Dancer," she says. "My most intricate ribbon dancing move would have to be the split-leap, full-circle swirl. It's pretty advanced--you start with a split leap, and as you're leaping, you do a full circle swirl [gestures wildly] with the Ribbon Dancer, and as you land, you bring the Ribbon Dancer down."

So, does Laura still bring this degree of intensity to her pursuits? I'll let you decide. "I have ordered between eight and 10 J. Crew wedding dresses, returned all but one of them, hired a seamstress to alter that one J. Crew dress, freaked out and fired the seamstress, and bought a new dress at Anna Be," she says. "So it's possible that the dress may become somewhat of a drama for the wedding."

Leave it to Laura (who is scheduled to get married in July (assuming she finally works through the dress issues)) to spin what sounds like a full-fledged Bridezilla breakdown as simply a hiccup in her otherwise serene wedding plans. It is precisely this knack for strategic messaging that brought the former director of scheduling for Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper to SE2.

Creativity. Intensity. Spin. She's the perfect fit for SE2. (At least, as long as she leaves the office supply of paper clips and gum alone.)
