The Challenge:
When Marian Medical Center, located in Santa Maria, California launched the city’s largest ever capital campaign to support the building of a new hospital, it was an ambitious project. We knew that galvanizing the support of the community would be critical to their success in meeting their $15 million goal – which was nearly four times the largest amount ever raised in Santa Maria.
The Solution:
SE2 was engaged to create a comprehensive communications campaign to support the fundraising effort for Marian. The campaign positioned Marian as a key cornerstone of the community and focused on the “generations of care and compassion” that had been provided by the Catholic hospital since 1940. After developing a brand identity for the campaign, SE2 developed stories about families and patients who had been treated at the hospital, which served as the centerpiece of fundraising materials for general, internal and high-dollar donor audiences. We additionally created banners to dress up the hospital campus; timelines depicting key accomplishments in Marian’s history; inserts for the local newspaper; and strategies for engaging board members, physicians and other hospital employees as champions in the campaign.
The Result:
Marian’s capital campaign was visible throughout Santa Maria during the life of the campaign, contributing greatly toward the hospital’s success in meeting its $15 million goal. Currently under construction, the new hospital is scheduled to open in 2012.
