Launching higher education savings plans for CollegeInvest

The Challenge:
To unveil new so-called 529 higher education savings options offered by CollegeInvest, Colorado's not-for-profit higher education financing resource. The goal was to create interest in these new plans among a public that had limited appreciation of the unique tax advantages offered by 529s.

The Solution:
SE2 organized a Front Range media tour for CollegeInvest and its 529 partner Upromise to generate media coverage for the new 529 options and Upromise's related rewards program. Meetings were arranged with major Front Range newspapers and television stations and families benefiting from the programs were made available to the media.

The Result:
Substantial articles and news segments highlighting families who were using the Upromise service to save for college appeared in newspapers and news programs to supplement CollegeInvest's paid advertising. End-of-year investments into the plans nearly doubled from the same month a year earlier.
